Feelin’ Good

Good Saturday morning all !

September is coming to an end, and my favourite season is in the midst of beginning. This summer has been amazing, cray cray, and life altering. I am excited to be back in NYC after a brief stunt home to Canada, which was much needed. I am excited about returning to this blog after a long abandonment (sowwry). I am settled back here with a new job, a new outlook on life, and a new excitement for the future.

My internship at burdastyle.com turned into an amazing job opportunity, and now I am one of the managers, e-commerce developers, DIY masterminds, and design creative extraordinaires!

Here is a glimpse at my cute work station…

I have a wonderful view of midtown west Manhattan! I occasionally see a boat drift by in the distance :D .

My latest endeavour at work is making the Matthew Williamson Dress from this AWESOME reversible skull fabric I found at Elegant Fabrics. Just yesterday I got a bright limegreen metal zipper that I will sew up the back. My friend went on to tell me that this dress will look “so Misfits” haha. I’m SO excited, and it will be perfect for October…being Halloween and all.

I am going to sew the main of the dress with the black side, and then for the side inserts sew the white side.

I snapped a quick pic of my breakie from Friday, because it was so DELISH. It features a lovely mug given to me from my dear friend back home:)

Just the usual greek yogurt mess, with granolie and bananies. YUM… and on the side a nice Starbucks coffee with a shot of espresso…it was Friday, I needed it!

On Thursday morning I went with my friend to the Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the Whitney Museum. I really wanted to go, and it was in its final week so we had to wait one hour just to get it ! But it was TOTES worth it. AMAZING exhibition from a crazy Japanese artist…so inspiring.

I couldn’t take any pics from the exhibit itself, so I took some pics of the lobby and café where her signature polka dots were displayed in ball form.

My friend took a quick picture of me there, I was wearing my thrifted silver shirt :)

After, I went back to the office and grabbed some amazing udon to have for lunch. I am ADDICTED to this stuff. But I do not like the way I slurp the noodles and the miso splashes in my face inability to use chopsticks.

My Friday night consisted of my grabbing Mexican grub, from El Centro and having a few brews in the East Village. Perfect night.

I concluded with a midnight 3:00 am snack, and watching an episode of All On The Line with Joe Zee :D

Source

YUM… now I am off to Trader Joe’s, stupid idea considering it is CRAZZZZYYY on Saturdays.

TOOTLES !

P.S. checkout this cool video of a Megin’s Leggins customer wearin’ her leggings I made in a video. KEWL! (they are the electric blue ones :D )

Pattern Magic

Good afternoon !

WOW, that Easter weekend just flew by. As a kid I LOVED Easter, my parents would always set up a scavenger hunt that led my brother and I running around the house collecting toys, candy, and chocolate. This year was nothing like that…I spent Easter alone in my dorm, ate a can of refried beans, and watched the entire first season of 30 rock.

On Friday I got to leave my internship early for the Holiday, but before I left I was sent on a quick pick-up. Which is fine, but I believe I have some sort of pick up curse LOL. First, I am wandering up 38th street and I can’t find the building so I am freaking out…then I realize that it is on 39th DUH ! …after another 30 min trying to get to the suite, I realize it’s closed and I walk back empty handed. Oh well, at least it was a beautiful day out !

Yesterday was a very relaxing day which included a lot of this…

AND listening to this….

I have become very obsessed with them…and just found out that the cute Irish blond one has the same birthday as me (thanks Wiki)

I also did my weekly haul to Trader Joe’s, and when I got home I whipped up this monster salad, with refried beans on top. (is that weird?)  DELISH !

This morning I had another Internship interview, which went real well ! and on my way home I stopped in at this AWESOME Japanese bookstore called Kinokuniya. It has an awesome selection of Fashion books, and I got this kool Pattern Making book called Pattern Magic…SO excited to try some of these methods out !! This is my first pattern making book for stretch fabrics.

Now I am killing time before class, and I did my nails. My mom sent me this awesome gold crackle nail polish and I LOVE the effect of it ! chhhheck it out.

Cool Eh?

I am going to go eat some more refried beans <3 and then off to class I go !

Tootles  !

Morning Glory

Good Morning ! on this fine Thursday (can’t believe its Thursday already)

I am starting off my day with a loverly greek yogurt mess, in the mix is apple, high fibre cereal, frozen berries, and CINNAMON. Just love cinnamon, I think I add it to everything I eat in the morning. This has been my usual breakfast for the past little while since the weather has been gettin’ warmer, I like a nice cooooool breakfast LOL.

Alongside is a crappy cup of instant coffee. But hey, I can only afford ONE Starbucks a day here and I like to enjoy it in the afternoon haha.

Yesterday I was at my internship, which was great ! Every internship day I relax in Starbucks while I eat my lunch and browse my phone on their Wifi. Anyways, recently I found this AMAZE container at one of my favourite store here The Container Store, I am totally OBSESSED with tupperware, containers and any organizational thing. But what I found here was an awesome salad container, it has all different compartments for different things, SO cute !

And here it is IN ACTION ! wow, I really do excited about the most ridiculous things…….like tupperware

In my class on Tuesday we had a live model come in and we had to draw her…the first class we did this I was intimidated and my drawing SUCKED ( I am really bad at hand illustration, I’m better with computers ) but once I loosened up I felt more comfortable, and I really feel like my drawing skills have Improved ! YAY, good thing, because when I wanted to apply for Project Runway they wanted hand sketches and I was like WOAH, mine suck…but now I think I’ll be ready for their next season casting if I keep practicing :)

We did learn how to draw fur, so the model wore a fur coat…here are some of my drawings I did in class, I think they are alright…some other people in my class are really amazing at drawing, we did a little show and tell at the end ( but can they make a sweet pair of spandex leggings?? I think NOT  ) hahahahaha

Today I have a bunch of running around to do…I have an appointment, then I have to go collect fabric swatches YAY, and then class BOO.

P.S. I named the post Morning Glory, because well DUH it’s the morning, and because I recently watched that movie with Rachel McAdams (fun fact: I was born in the same hospital as her in Canada) but that movie was HORRIBLE, so bad, so don’t watch it.

Hot and Cold

Good Morning !

Confession: I am the WORST at coming up with blog post titles, I do consider myself a creative individual but when it come to this…not so much.

Anyways, I am kinda glad that the cold weather is back in swing :) I must be crazy for saying this, but I didn’t get enough wear out of my jackets this year, especially my new leather one. And to be honest I HATE hot weather, I def think I got this trait from my mother, but in my theory when It’s cold out you get to wear more clothes…and I love clothes…so that is that ! haha.

I decided to switch up my breakfasts for a while…the past two months of oatmeal every morning has got to me, so this morn’ I had frozen berries, Trader Joe’s Greek yogurt, High Fiber cereal, and some cinnamon on top. DELISH, and refreshing

Monday was my day off internship and classes, but I still did a butt load of homework and even had an interview for a summer internship in the city ! They said three girls were getting interviewed for the one position available, but I REALLY want it  ! haha

I also went around looking at some student summer residences, which are super small and super expensive ! yay !

On my way home from my interview I stopped by Energy Kitchen for lunchie ! I walk by this place often and also meant to go in, I got the Mediterranean Salad , it would have been better with chicken but it was still good…ANYthing with Feta Cheezzz is DELISH.

It was good, but very expensive…prob won’t go there again.

Yesterday I headed to Brooklyn to look at summer residences, I was skeptical to look there at first (because I am scared of the subway) but I successfully took it with out getting lost ! and it was a really easy trip…and in Brooklyn you get so much more for your money, Manhattan is disgustingly expensive.

I took the journey in these lime green leggings I made over spring break, I am pictured waiting for my tour guide haha. These are my new favourite leggings that I have made !

By the time got back home I was starvin’ and I remembered I had these soup things in the freezer so I decided to crack one open ! I had Black Bean soup, which was actually purrdy good, I also added broccoli to the situation….so it wasn’t so like….brown haha.

I worked on homework the rest of the day, and for this project we had to design a collection for a designer we look up to and believe we have the same aesthetic as. I choose The Blonds, they are so much fun, and loved by celebrities.

Here is a taste of their latest collections which I LOVE. Every collection they carry out a theme beautifully, and I like how they take their inspiration so literally but also in a fun and quirky way. They are way over the top, which is why I choose to design for them.

Tootles  !

On Sunday Morning

Good Mornin’

It’s a chilly day here in NYC today, as I found out doing my morning Starbucks run.

Today I have a lot of homework planned, and then I am going to my roommates Opera recital (yes, she goes to school for opera singing, kool right?) so that should be fun !

Yesterday was a busy busy day….and night (which I am feeling in my head right now lol)

My friend and I went to the Museum of Modern Art ! or MoMa as peeps around here would say. I had to go for a school project, and also because I hadn’t been there yet and all Parsons students

GET IN FO FREE!

Yeah I will defiantly take advantage of this…since we didn’t get around to exploring all 6 floors !

We toured one floor and both realized that we were starving ! we also walked 37 blocks to get there too haha. So we hit up the MoMa cafe for some lunch, which was very delish.

I got the chickpea salad, it was VERY good…it not only had chickpeas (duh !) but also had this hummus paste at the bottom of the bowl. I had a diet coke alongside.

We had a window seat and I noticed this very pretty tree outside, I’m not sure what they are called but I really like them. Photography at its best, I actually tried to dodge the taxi in the shot but they drive pass so damn frequently !

After our over priced delicious lunch we then headed up to the top floor for the Museum’s special exhibits.

My favourite being the Cindy Sherman exhibit, she is a photographer with a great and vulgar sense of humour. I think I am going to use her exhibit for my source of inspiration for my homework.

Source

We were exhausted after our additional 37 block walk home…so I got a Starbucks had a nap and watched Kourtney and Khole take Miami mind rotting.

But wait the fun continues ! I had a concert to go to, YEAHHH

I put on my pink leggings, sequin corset top and leather jacket…I was ready to dance to some dub step. They should re name it dub dance, one does simply not just ‘step’ while listening to it. ANYWAYS, before I went I had the most disgusting looking dinner known to man kind, BEANS and BEER !

Also there were several more beers to follow and maybe some vodka?

In Canada I get the drink Vodka, Water, Barlime. I guess it’s a Canadian thing, because the bartender looked at me like I was insane…and I got a gross drink of watery Vodka.

Haha well it was a really great concert, my ears are still ringing. Now I am off to maybe watch a couple more episodes of Kardashian Krap.

Tootles !

I’m Backkk !

Hello Ya’ll !

Sorry for all the M.I.A. action, but I had a rough week…then a few vacation weeks, so now I am getting back into regularly blogging.

I feel like I need to catch up on so much ! which I do…so lets start with SPRING BREAK !!! CABOO, CANCUNN…..no, more like Canada ! It’s was really great to go back to Canada for a few days, but it also felt weird…I was like WHERE are all the people on the streets ! but I did get to see grass, trees, and land ! as opposed to the uneven cement sidewalks I see and walk trip on everyday here in NYC.

This is the few from my plane leaving New York, this is not  a view of Manhattan, I think it may be Jersey…can’t you see Snooki’s hair poof from here?

At home there was a lot of doing nothing…I felt so lazy cause I’m used to walking a zillion blocks a day, but a break was nice :) so were home cooked meals that didn’t come from the Whole Foods hot food bar !

My first night home was amaze. I went to a cocktail par-tay at my bestie’s house for her sister’s engagement. It was uber fancy and had delicious eats and loads of drinks. DELISH.

But not going to lie everyday really just looked like this…

Me sitting on my couch with coffee and snuggling up to my pug :) who I miss dearly.

My Family and I (plus my two brothers friends) drove back up to NYC, where they all stayed for a couple of dayzz.

We stopped by Niagara Falls on our way for beer to see the water and cross the border.

St. Patricks day in NYC was kray kray, especially around Times Square…GREEN every wear. I kinda make a point NOT to wear green on Patty’s day because I wear it EVERY other day of the year, so I’m like all about making statements haha. I actually did manage to squeeze a little lime green into my attire though :)

My parents and I went to Chelsea Market on St. Patricks day for breakfast…which was YUM, and what was even more YUM was the sample sale going on there !

Chelsea Market has this open space where a lot of sample sales go on in…and this was the Mackage and Soia & Kyo. Both REALLY great coat collections…

My mom and I both got Mackage coats, hers was more a rain jacket and I got a SWEET leather jacket with studded shoulders regularly priced at $800 !

As soon as I got it I wore it the rest of the day, where we shopped and drank a lot. KEWL.

After our exciting breakfast of coffee, scones and leather coats we head to Nordstrom Rack

I scored these sweet shoes on CLEARANCE y’all !!

After a much needed nap came even MUCH more needed drinks !

and then round two six.

CHEERS !

Tonight I am seeing 21 Jump street with my roomie.

Coach Crazy

Yay Saturday !

ALL week I have been sick with a cold, and it has sucked. I think it is because literally everyday it is COMPLETELY different here (weather wise) like wednesday & thursday it was GORGE out, then friday rained, now today it is FREAKIN’ cold and windy as f***.

Anyways, today on this wind storm of a Saturday I got up at like 6:00 am and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I thought I would go with the flow.

Then I made this :) DELISH banana oats and coffee.

While I ate this I watched the NEW episode of Degrassi, possibly one of my most fav shows <3 LOVE teen drama, and how the kids acting as highschoolers ACTUALLY look like they could be in high school….unlike Pretty Little Liars where they look like 24, still love that show too though !!

After this I headed out on a mission to buy a new Coach bag I saw online and wanted :)

LOVE this bag….so shiny, and for the city it is great to have a cross body bag especially when you do a lot of walking.

While in the store they actually remembered me buying this laptop sleeve like a month ago…LOL, I was like yeah that was me.

I do own a lot of Coach items…I just like their quality and colours :) I usually tend to buy only their bags that are not blasted with their signature CC design, cause I think it’s a tad tacky.

At home I made this monster salad…steamed broccoli with tomato sauce on top of lettuce.

YUM…

Wanted to share some AMAZE pieces from the Jeremy Scott fall 2012 collection, I am IN LOVE, and want that rainbow hair coat/cape?

He is one of my favourite designers at the moment…very my style…very bright :) and FUN !

TOTES AMAZE

My saturday afternoon consisted of eating this snack…Carrots and Cottage Chezzz. One of my FAV go to snacks :)

And doing school work…

I also had a 3 hour nap…

……..and THEN I am going to go out for much needed drinks ;)

WIAW

Hello y’all,

Been a little M.I.A. these last couple of days, but I’m back to the blog ! Lol

I believe the above titles stands for What I Ate Wednesday…I noticed a bunch of other blogs embraced this, so I took it upon my self to do it as well ! it even comes with a cute logo…..it is also apparently love your veggies month, which actually should be year round. because they are DELISH and NOUTRISH ! haha

I had a fabulous long weekend ! I did some shopping ! some a lot of beer drinkin’ and saw this gem of a movie :)

Seeing this movie followed the night I did my beer drinking, so it was a great feel better thing to do ! HAH

Last night I had my late class followed by a late dinner…In class we were sketching a live model and further developing our Autumn/Winter 2012 collections. I am REALLY bad at (hand) drawing (I’m all about drawing in Illustrator) , but to my surprise in class I seem to be getting the hang of it  ! you can see peek !

So when I got home, I was hungry so I made a real DELISH salad…topped with warmed green beans, cottage cheezz, and soy dressing.

Also, had a sprite zero, I’m really into those now-a-days, I used to be all about Diet Coke but lately I have just been craving Sprite Zero…WEIRD

So I’m up earlyish this morning cause I’ve got my internship today, so I made myself a nice breakfast in a messy bowl. Just maple & brown sugar oats, with raisins, blueberries, bran flakes, and Bettern’ Peanut butter…LOVE this stuff !!

There was also one two cups of coffee :D

TOOTLES !

Sunny Sunday

Hello There !

It was SOO nice outside today in the city, and good thang because I had a lot of walkin’ to do.

I’ll start with last night, because it was a darn good meal I had ! LOL, well I enjoyed it. Just simply broccoli and asparagus topped with Trader Joe’s marinara sauce…DELISH. About half way through I added some cottage cheezz, wish I had added it at the beginning. DARN.

I didn’t even wear a winter coat outside today ! KEWL, I pictured my outfit today, because it was so thrifty :)

A vintage stripe top (was a dress) paired with a vintage green suede 80′s blazer…I have a thing for retro blazers, and as far as the shoulder pads go, the BIGGER the BETTER, lawl. side note: pictured in school bathroom.

Underneath I am wearing blk spandex leggings DUH! and I am holding a Poppy Coach bag, with attached silk scarf.

Before my day I had some fuel in the form of oats and coffee. I enjoyed some Maple & Brown sugar oats, with blueberries and Bettern’ Peanut Butter ! (in my new bowl and mug might I add)

My adventures for the day included going to Marshall’s & TJ Maxx, I was very disappointed :( …the only thing that  I wanted was a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs black trousers at TJ Maxx, but they didn’t have my size. OH WELL.

After my unsuccessful shopping trip (all I got was lime green measuring cups from the kitchen section at TJ Maxx) I came home and assembled lunchie. Usual huge salad. NOM NOM

My afternoon consisted of schoolwork, I mainly worked on this collage for one of my classes…I had to express ‘Bitter & Sweet’ only in pictures / words. I wanted to depict a girl who everyone thought was sweet, happy, and innocent. She does a great job of portraying happiness to her peers, but inside there is a bitterness…she is obsessed and driving herself crazy with perfection, and she is engaging is reckless acts like starvation and drugs to keep her ‘happy’.

I wanted to cover this topic, because it is relatable to me and draws from some personal experience. Also, I think it is an important issue !

On a lighter note, I also painted my nails. With Sally Hansen splatter ! SUCH a kool effect, loves it !

I also spilled it on my desk and house coat, does NOT loves it…

While doing this…I polished off a container of cottage chezzz, YUM.

and there was a little watching of this AMAZING video….may have said some of these exact phrases during my experience at NY fashion week LAWL.

Shopping Saturday !

Hello y’all,

Today was an absolutely GORGEOUS day out (weather wise)…and shopping wise…which is what I did today ! LOL

Last night I had a DELISH dinner of Trader Joe’s Instant soup, mushroom flava…also I added some broccoli for some more goodness :) The soup really doesn’t turn out like pictured on the product, buy hey it’s freakin’ 99 cents. Also, I like how the oil packet is separated so it is optional to add it in, which I didn’t.

As you can probably tell, it was a boring Friday night…of eating instant soup and watching SNL on Hulu. KEWL.

This morning, the sun was shinen’ bright, and my cold symptoms were gone. So I woke up and surprisingly made blueberry oats and coffee ! I haven’t had this exact same breakfast for the past month. But I never seem to get tired of it.

My mission for the day was to find a new pair of good shoes, like walking shoes / boots. I was successful YAY. I spent like an hour in the quirky NYC based store Shoegasm (great name !). I was back and forth between a lace up pair of booties or these biker boots…I chose the biker ones, because I loved how they looked vintage.

Afterwards I headed to Fishs Eddy…AKA the CUTEST dishes store ever, it’s like a whole store filled with Anthropologie dinnerware. I thought since I only owned ONE bowl and plate here, I should get some more. I got an adorable polka dot bowl, and mint green mug, also an unpictured spoon YAY.

I also went into H&M and ZARA, but didn’t come out with anything. But I DID go out to lunch at Cosi, a great lunch spot. I ordered the Bombay chicken salad light…it was DELISH and HUGE !!!

I also had a Diet Snapple, it was aiight.

Then I ran home dumped off all my purchases and headed to good ole’ Trader Joe’s to do my weekly food shopping.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND ! it is like peanut butter but in 2 Tbsp there is only 2 grams of fat !!!! I never heard of such a thing, I was a little skeptical at first and thought it would taste like crap. But I took a leap of faith and bought it hoping that it would taste good, so the first thing I did when I lugged my extremely heavy bags of groceries home was crack open this puppy and try a spoonful. O M GOSH, it was good ! horayy.

I am enjoying a Starbucks now, YUM.
